Toxic vapors getting into homes near Ann Arbor dry cleaner, EPA finds

High levels of toxic vapor from a plume of pollution in the ground are getting into the basement of a rental house next to an Ann Arbor dry cleaner, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has found.
Low levels also were found in two other houses nearby, said Matt Naud, the city of Ann Arbor’s environmental coordinator.
The EPA stepped in this past month to test the indoor air at five houses near Armen Cleaners, 630 S. Ashley St., where government officials have known about soil and groundwater pollution problems for decades. Read more.
