Area schools, office buildings grapple with Legionella bacteria after COVID-19 lockdown

A potential side effect of schools and office buildings sitting dormant for months because of the COVID-19 shutdown can cause another possibly lethal disease, prompting several local school districts to take action after the pathogen was found in their drinking water.

Legionella causes the potentially deadly Legionnaires’ disease, which can be mistaken for the new coronavirus because it shares some similar symptoms. It can grow in stagnant water. Read more.
