Baton Rouge plant added to contamination cleanup list; high level of metals found in groundwater

The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has added a polluted site in Baton Rouge to its National Priorities List.

In December 2023, theĀ EPA listed the Exide Baton Rouge site as a proposed location to add to the National Priorities List. Exide Baton Rouge was a battery plant located on Brooklawn Drive in Scotlandville near the Mississippi River. The EPA found high levels of zinc, arsenic, lead, antimony, and manganese were found in the groundwater at the site, according to the EPA. Read more.
