Canopy builder Sandco to pay $85K in settlement with Florida DEP

The builder of Canopy at Welaunee has agreed to pay $85,000 to settle a Florida Department of Environmental Protection lawsuit filed after erosion and sediment controls failed following heavy rain, leading to offsite flooding and sediment pollution.

DEP in August sued Sandco, Inc., which is building the massive mixed-use development on the northeast side of town, alleging the company failed to maintain best management practices during site work.  Read more.
