City attorney sues 20-plus companies to force cleanup of toxic chemicals

The San Diego City Attorney’s Office filed suit Wednesday against more than 20 chemical companies for allegedly manufacturing toxic chemicals that have been detected in San Diego area water sources.

The suit alleges the companies produced firefighting foams that contained per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances known as PFAS, which the City Attorney’s Office says have been detected “in certain drinking water supplies, stormwater and wastewater, and other natural resources.” Read more.
