Cleanup efforts to begin at site of shuttered Crawford Generating Station in Little Village

Cleanup efforts are expected to begin soon at the shuttered Crawford Generating Station that is at the center of controversy after a demolition on the property sent a cloud of what appeared to be dust into residential parts of Little Village.
The city’s departments of buildings and public health Tuesday announced cleanup efforts were expected to begin to remove materials and particles from the demolished smokestack and another building, according to a news release. Hilco Redevelopment, which owns the property, hired a new contractor, Heneghan Wrecking to conduct the cleanup. Read more.
