Cleanup still underway for 125,000-gallon chemical spill in Fort Smith

Cleanup work and environmental testing was still underway Tuesday at the site of Saturday’s spill in Fort Smith that released around 125,000 gallons of chemicals.

A ruptured tank at C&S Chemicals damaged other tanks and plumbing on site, resulting in a leak spilling a combination of sulfuric acid and aluminum sulfate, according to Sebastian County officials. Read more.
