Cleanup to begin at contaminated ballfield

The Town of Oyster Bay has announced that remediation of the long-shuttered contaminated ballfield at Bethpage Community Park is slated to get underway this summer. This week, final construction of a thermal well is being conducted, which will remove soil contaminants at the former Grumman dumpsite through a project performed by Northrup Grumman with State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) oversight.
