Earlier today an incident at the Sewickley Wastewater Treatment Plant has resulted in one death, and reportedly three others injured. The death and injuries appear to have happened when they were working in a hole or shaft at the plant and may have been overwhelmed by poisonous fumes or gas. Allegheny County is currently investigating this workplace incident to determine the cause. According to reports in the Tribune, Review, a County spokesperson stated that the surrounding community was not endangered by the fumes. “The accident was contained within the plant, and investigators are just starting to figure out what went wrong and how, she said.”
