Expert weighs in on lead, PCB contamination at old Ypsilanti industrial site

Over the winter, the city of Ypsilanti and its environmental consultant, AKT Peerless, tested areas of soil along Water Street in an effort to develop a better of picture of the type and level of contamination remaining on the former industrial property.
The move came in response to a Michigan State Housing Development Authority report that raised concerns about lead, arsenic, and PCB contamination on the 38-acre property, which the city now owns. It sits just east of downtown Ypsilanti and, so far, a Family Dollar has been built on the site, while an affordable-housing project and recreation center are planned. Read more.
