Frisco settles Exide property dispute, expects cleanup of contamination to resume soon

A new agreement approved by Frisco City Council on Oct. 6 will allow for cleanup to resume on the site of the former Exide Technologies battery recycling plant. Once that is completed, city officials plan to begin work on Frisco’s Grand Park project, which incorporate land from the site.

Frisco originally reached an agreement with Exide Technologies in 2012 to close the plant, which had too-high lead emissions. In exchange, the city agreed to purchase nearly 170 acres that Exide used as a buffer from surrounding development. Exide also had to clean up the land and Stewart Creek, which had been contaminated after decades of operations. Read more.
