Gas-powered equipment use in remodeling project believed to be cause of CO contamination

Canyon View Middle School is scheduled to resume in-person classes on Wednesday following an investigation into carbon monoxide contamination that prompted remote learning for students and led to several others being treated at a nearby hospital.

The contamination, believed to be associated with a remodeling project using gas-powered equipment, resulted in several students seeking hyperbaric treatment on Thursday, Jan. 18. The Iron County School District identified the contamination near D Hall, suspecting that exhaust from the construction equipment entered the building.
