Major League Baseball’s Tampa Bay Rays announced in March the team could no longer proceed with plans for a $1.3 billion ballpark in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Damage to the region from Hurricane Milton in October 2024 led to funding delays surrounding uncertainty in the aftermath of the storm. Ultimately, Rays leadership concluded the agreed-upon timeline — which would see the new stadium opening in 2028 — would not work for the team.  Read more.
