Columbia investigates potential black mold contamination in city fire stations after ignored concerns

The city of Columbia is looking into possible contamination of black mold at two of the city’s fire departments on Wednesday, this coming as an anonymous tip sent pictures of areas within fire station six that looked to have mold growing on them earlier in the week.

Zack Privette, President of the Columbia Firefighters’ Union, says the same day the tip was reported the department transferred firefighters from station six over to station seven. He says the department also investigated station two for possible contamination, without a mold or allergen specialist alongside where they determined the station to be fine. Read more.
