Judge: Poultry companies must pay for Oklahoma pollution

United States District Judge Gregory Frizzell ordered that poultry companies pay cleanup costs for the Illinois River Watershed in the latest ruling in a lawsuit filed by the State of Oklahoma two decades ago.
Frizzell made the ruling on December 19 in a federal court in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Frizzell in 2023 ruled that the poultry companies had contributed to high phosphorous levels in the watershed. In that ruling, Frizzell ordered the parties to meet and work out an agreement within two months. Read more.
