Late 2025 target date for Ames’ indoor aquatic center still in reach despite construction error

Construction of a $32 million indoor aquatic center in Ames has hit a small snag, though delays are not expected.

A vapor barrier and insulation were not installed in one area before concrete was poured at what will become the Fitch Family Indoor Aquatic Center at 115 N. Elm Ave., near the intersection of Lincoln Way and Grand Avenue. The Project construction manager, Story Construction, the project architect, RDG Planning and Design, and city staff agreed the work was unacceptable and the mistake needs corrected. Read more.
