Lawsuit, emails raise questions about cause of February building collapse — and town’s ability to prevent another

The developer of a building that collapsed on Vernon Street during renovations earlier this year has sued the contractor and structural engineer hired to work on the project, alleging that their negligence led to the collapse.
That complaint, as well as more than a thousand pages of documents obtained by Brookline.News through public records requests, raise questions about the town Building Department’s conclusion that the collapse was likely caused by weather conditions. Read more.
