Oklahoma County jail project faces delays due to contaminated soil

The Oklahoma County Jail’s new behavioral health care center is facing additional costs and potential delays due to the discovery of contaminated soil at the construction site. The project, which includes a $700 million jail and a $44 million care center, now requires an additional $481,000 for soil removal.
The soil is contaminated with hydrocarbons, commonly found in fossil fuels, which can pose serious health risks, including damage to the lungs, liver, kidneys, brain. Read more.
