Pea Ridge High School pays $43,907 for lead dust remediation

The Pea Ridge School District is scrambling to clean up a classroom after lead was discovered over the summer.

Summer maintenance on the agriculture shop’s welding room at Pea Ridge High School revealed lead dust in the welding exhaust system, district Superintendent Keith Martin told School Board members Aug. 10.

“The concentration is inside the welding exhaust system, and it needs to be removed,” Martin said, adding it needed to be cleaned, abated and the duct work removed at a cost of $43,907. Read more.
