State lawsuit seeks remediation of former Camden Ship Repair property

A state lawsuit seeks a court-ordered cleanup of a site polluted by a former ship-repair business on North Camden’s waterfront.

The suit, filed on behalf of the Department of Environmental Protection, also demands the removal of almost 23,000 cubic yards of unauthorized fill from the Erie Street property, which holds the long-vacant shell of Camden’s oldest home.

And it wants the payment of $119,000 in fines by the site’s owner, 75 Erie St. LLC of Philadelphia. Read more.
