UCF receives $1.4 million in football stadium defect suit

The University of Central Florida has received $1.4 million from the architect and some of the contractors involved in building its football stadium, which suffered from defects, including problems with rust.

More than two years after the university filed a suit alleging the steel structure was wearing prematurely and requiring more maintenance than it should for its age and use, it has settled with several of the companies involved in building the stadium, including general contractor Wharton-Smith, Inc.
