In 1999, West Virginia cattle farmer Wilbur Tennant sued chemical company DuPont after his herd of over 150 cows began dying from tumors, internal bleeding, and blackened teeth.

He surmised that a creek that ran through his property, which had turned black and foamy, was connected to both the deaths and to the nearby Washington Works plastic plant. Read more.
