Chief Operating Officer,
Michael VanAcker is the Chief Operating Officer for RT Specialty. Previously, Michael served as RT’s Controller and led the consolidation and integration of multiple RT acquisitions into centralized service centers and was responsible for all of RT’s financial and accounting operations, including FP&A, internal controls and GAAP reporting, as well as Premium Accounting. Upon his promotion to COO, he assumed accounting and operational oversight of the Surplus Lines department.
Michael joined RSG in 2011 working for the global Controller and CFO. He was instrumental in creating many of the original policies and procedures for the Finance and Accounting department before being promoted to RSG’s Director of FP&A after less than two years with the company.
Michael began his career in PricewaterhouseCoopers’s Assurance practice specializing in insurance clients. At PricewaterhouseCoopers, he gained experience in IFRS and Statutory reporting with his client list consisting of some of the largest engagements in the Chicago office.
Michael earned a degree in Finance and Accounting from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. At Illinois, he was a member of the inaugural College of Business Honors Program and earned the Lloyd Morey Award for the highest GPA in the College of Business. He also spent a semester studying abroad at the ESADE Management School of Business in Barcelona, Spain. He is a licensed CPA in the State of Illinois after earning the Illinois CPA Society Excel Award for performance on the CPA exam.Back to List Next Bio
