March 12, 2020, CHICAGO, IL – Ryan Specialty Group (RSG) is pleased to announce that Mark S. Katz, Esq. has been appointed Executive Vice President, General Counsel for Ryan Specialty Group. In his new position, Mark has the responsibility for leading RSG’s Legal, Compliance and Regulatory functions.

Commenting on Mark’s appointment, Patrick G. Ryan, Founder, Chairman and CEO of RSG, said, “Mark brings deep knowledge and expertise to the role of General Counsel. Additionally, Mark has demonstrated this past year his strong leadership skills and extensive insurance acumen. I am very pleased to have Mark join our senior management team as General Counsel.”

Mark joined Ryan Specialty Group in February 2019 as Senior Vice President and Counsel, Insurance Services and has been responsible for leading a team focused on supporting the insurance operations of Ryan Specialty Group and its subsidiaries.

Prior to joining RSG, Mark was a partner with the law firm Mound Cotton Wallan & Greengrass LLP for 25 years where he analyzed and litigated complex insurance coverage disputes on behalf of insurers, with a special emphasis on commercial first-party property litigation. Mark is admitted to the New York and New Jersey bars, as well as being a graduate of Syracuse University, Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, and of Hofstra Law School where he was an editor of the Hofstra Law Review.
