Morgan County mayor on train derailment aftermath: next steps for possible water contamination caused by ethanol spill

After a Norfolk Southern train derailed near Lansing Thursday in a secluded, rural area, individuals in Morgan County and other neighboring counties were placed on an evacuation order following fires and water contamination, due to ethanol spills coming from at least four cars. The evacuation has since been lifted.
Morgan County Executive Brian Langley shared Friday morning that emergency operations centers are in place following the incident, and that individuals who evacuated yesterday afternoon are now home. Read more.
