The Princeton School District brought a lawsuit against Architects Rego and Youngquist (ARY) and prime general contractor Breitbach Construction, alleging that there were construction defects in a school building. Records show that the school district first brought arbitration claims against ARY and Breitbach in 2006, citing design and construction errors that allowed for building leaks during wind-driven rains. It also cited other structural deficiencies. District spokespersons said that the district did not know of the severity of the errors in the building until they brought in consultants for an inspection.
A settlement had been reached and that the Princeton School District announced it has accepted a $2 million settlement for anticipated repair costs to the middle school building. School officials claimed that following the settlement, the district will look to begin repairs on the middle school during the 2008 or 2009 construction seasons. Most of the work will be done during the summer. [UNION EAGLE: CONSTRUCTION DEFECTS]
